Whether you’re in business, making a social media profile, acting, or any other vocation – having a professional headshot is a great idea and reflects well on you!

I’ve spent lots of time on these blog posts so please make sure you read what’s on the page and click the ‘Read More’ button below the first few paragraphs to continue reading all the way through.

We all want to be the ‘best’ that we can be and appearances are often the most important part of your profile.

There may be one or two things that stick out to you on the blog post that means the most to you. And, believe it or not, that one thing could possibly make the difference between you getting a job, being contacted for an interview, or someone contacting you for a business opportunity!

Modeling Headshots & Actor Headshots

People who are hoping to have a career in modelling or acting must have professional modeling headshots and actor headshots. It can be tempting to save money and take selfies, but unfortunately, these will be quickly discarded by agents and casting directors. The standard in these industries is professional modeling headshots and actor headshots that have been taken by an experienced photographer, such as DuHon Photography.

Here are a few ways that professional portraits can lead to you getting that next modeling job or part on television or film.

You’ll want to have your hair and makeup look as perfect as possible before your big portrait session. If you have the experience, you can do this yourself. It’s important to have a flawless complexion, and focus on the eyes, lips, and cheekbones so that you look your best for the camera.

Lighting is perhaps one of the most difficult parts of photography. Your professional photographer will choose the right type of light for portraits and headshots. This lighting differs from other types used for outdoors, weddings, or family shoots. The lighting needs to be even, so that it highlights all aspects of your face and shows what you really look like. Usually our photographers will utilize a two-light rig to help provide the best and most honest photographs of your face. Shadows will be kept to a minimum with these types of shots.

Even something as simple as the angle of the shot can also put you in the best light. Have you ever noticed how you don’t look all that great in selfies? This is because the angle may be off. The photographer should be taking your actor headshots from a slight angle, rather than head-on. Head-on photos rarely look good and are usually the first sign that an amateur has taken them. The headshots should be taken just slightly above eye level. However, if you’re aiming for a more dominant or authoritative look then you’ll want the actor headshots taken from slightly below the eye level. But no matter what, you want your modeling headshots to look direct and simple, and not have any unsightly shadows.

Perhaps the most difficult part of having your portraits or headshots taken is that they need to display your uniqueness. The shots should show why you should be hired, rather than someone else. Your headshots and portraits need to convey your uniqueness.

It helps that DuHon Photography will make you feel comfortable. You should be relaxed with your photographer so we can snap the best shots. It also helps that you arrive in a good mood. When you and your photographer have a good rapport with each other, they’ll be able to capture the best photographs of you.
